Trieste: 45% nylon, 355 cotton, 20% acrylic 2oz/136 yds suggested gauge 18 sts = 4" # 8 needle Trieste is an extremely interesting construction--loosely bound lengths of nylon are spliced throughout the yarn with knitted tubular sections of cotton/acrylic. The lengths are random, and each type of fiber has a distinctly different texture. As with all of our double dyes, the nylon is dyed first and the cotton/acrylic is dyed second, with each dye type absorbing only on the appropriate fiber type. The random nature of the lengths breaks the long color runs into staccato bursts rather than predictable stripes. The overall effect is subtle yet intriguing. The hand is soft to the touch yet firm in contstruction, and makes terrific jackets in particular.
